Rick Gorman
Rick Gorman, Principal Marine Surveyor, is an active member of SAMS (Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors). Rick takes pride in meeting their high ethical standards and exceeding their rigorous continuing education requirements. He is certified by the ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) attesting to his knowledge of their exhaustive technical and professional standards for boats.
Rick has performed over 2,000 marine surveys and damage investigations throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. His renowned knowledge and experience in the field has led to him being a leader in the surveying industry.
Rick has also sailed more than 20,000 ocean miles and navigated most conditions safely with no damage. This hands-on long distance sailing experience allows Rick to use the gear and systems on the yachts first-hand. Thisrare combination of experience and passion for boats is an invaluable asset in assessing vessels, marine equipment and making recommendations.
He is a graduate of the renowned Chapman School of Seamanship, Marine Surveyor Program. He is a member of American Boat and Yacht Council and the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors® with Accredited Marine Surveyor® status. He has a natural understanding of the forces which act on a vessel’s hull and structure and knows how to find hidden flaws which sometimes go unnoticed, but may cause serious problems if not discovered in time Most buyers are not experienced enough, or mechanically inclined to a point where they can make an adequate evaluation on their own.
